The day two of the Indian film industry centenary celebrations has started on Sunday morning with the Kannada film industry celebrities giving performances. The Sandalwood performances started with veteran actress B Sarojadevi inaugurating by lighting the lamp.
The programmes started with visual presentation of the foot steps of the Kannada film industry. Roopika and Aniruddh danced for 'Jai Bharatha Jananiya Thanujaate' song, while Shruthi danced for 'Arrerere Gini Rama' from 'Gandhadha Gudi'. Veteran actresses Jayanthi and Leelavathi dancing was one of the highlight of the programmes. Tara Venu, who is the former president of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy danced for 'Baanallu Neenu' from 'Bayalu Daari'.
Veteran actress Bharathi Vishnuvardhan also came on the stage with the background score 'Simha Simha' from Dr Vishnuvardhan's 'Aptharakshaka'. She danced for her famous song 'Bala Bangara Neenu' from the film 'Bhangarada Manushya' starring Dr Rajkumar. Home Minister George who was the chief guest of the function thanked everyone for coming to Chennai. He felicitated N K Venkatesh Murthy, Ashok, A H Bhatt, H D Gangaraju, A R Raju, K C N Chandru, H N Muddukrishna and others.
The entertainment programme continued with Pankaj dancing for 'Tuvvi Tuvvi' song from 'Anand', Amoolya for 'Ullasada Hoomale' and Vinod Raj for 'Dance Raja Dance'. The crowd which was very much excited seeing the entertainment programmes got more excited when drummer Deva came on stage to perform with his drums. The crowd cheered Deva. After than veteran music director Hamsalekha, choreographer Mugur Sundaram, B K Sumitra, music director Rajan, singer Rajesh Krishnan, cameraman J G Krishna, B s basavaraj, stunt master Nanjudi Nagaraj, editor S Manohar were felicitated
. After the felicitation programme, Ramesh along with Roopika came on stage danced for the 'Baare Santhege Hogona' from 'Neenu Nakkare Haalu Sakkare'. Harshika then came on the stage and danced for 'Yakka Ninna Magalu' from 'Victory'. Soundarya's dance for 'Pyaarge Agbuttaithe' also voowed the audience. Rishika Singh, Mohan and Vijay Raghavendra's 'Pankaja.song from 'Hudugaru' made the crowd cheer more. Anu Prabhakar and Naveen Krishna danced for 'Baji Katti' from 'Sipayi Ramu', Anup Sa Ra Govind, Sanjana and Shravanth's 'Naanu Paduvaralli Panchali' were some of the song and dances that followed in the marquee. Not only song and dances, Arun Sagar entertained the audience with his joker performance in between.
Harshika came on stage to perform for 'Onde Ondu Saari' song from 'Mungaaru Male' after which senior producers Basanth Kumar Patil, Manikchand, Jankiram, Musuri Son Jayasimha Musuri and Tulu producer K N Taylor was fecilitated. Rajesh Krishnan came over to the stage to sing a song, that's when Kamal Hassan came to the function as a special guest.
Kamal Hassan after felicitating veteran directors like S K Bhagawan, K S L Swamy, Vijaya Redy, Girish Kasaravalli and Bhagwan addressed the gathering and said he also belonged to Kannada. After Kamal's speech was a performance by Srujan for the song 'Anithintha Gandu Nanalla' from 'Bhanda Nanna Ganda'. Ramesh Aravan and Bhavan danced to the tunes of 'Garane Garane' from the film 'Aptharakshaka' after which it was a glamour girl Ragini danced for the very famous song 'Jataka Kudure' from 'Gajapathi Garvabhanga'.
The final part of the programme was the felicitation and veteran artistes Srinath, Umesh, Rajesh, Shivaram, Harini, Jayanthi, B Sarojadevi, Sudarshan and others were felicitated after which the programme was concluded.
