The 100-year celebrations of Indian films had a grand opening in Chennai on Saturday with Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurating it. The venue, Nehru Stadium, saw a full jam-packed house and outside, the surrounding areas were completely jammed with traffic. The celebration is organised by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce that represents by the film industries of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Almost all the big stars of these four industries are present for the celebrations. There is very tight security all over the place and the organisation is fool-proof.
The Kannada film artistes continued their rehearsals for Sunday's programmes in the Savera Hotel. Director S Narayan is taking care of the rehearsals.
The Sandalwood team will be the first to give their performance on Sunday morning. 55 seniors of the industry will be felicitated on the occasion.
After the practice, a visibly tired S Narayan addressed the performing team on Saturday evening. He told them that everyone should give their best and bring credit to the Kannada film industry.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce members including office bearers and others reached Chennai on Saturday morning for the function. Top stars of Sandalwood started arriving by evening.
