The Kannada film industry has witnessed several versatile and immensely talented filmmakers but when it comes to the number of women directors, there have been only a few who have made it to the list of directors in sandalwood. 

From Prema Karanth, who is probably among st the first woman directors in Kannada with her classic movie 'Phaniyamma', the numbers have always been very limited including Kavitha Lankesh, Vijayalakshmi Singh, Suman Kittur, Roopa Iyer, Priya Belliappa, Priya Hassan, Chandrakala and Pushpa. In an addition to it, popular television producer, who recently turned film producer for Premier Padmini, Sruthi Naidu, has announced her directorial debut venture, for which she is busy penning the story and screenplay.

Shruthi Naidu has shared that the success of Premier Padmini, which has completed 25 days at the box office has yet again assured that audience always support a good and sensible film. She adds saying that she is penning a romantic story which will appeal to every section of the cine goers.
