Veteran actor Uncle Loknath is no more. He passed away this morning at the age of 91. He leaves behind four daughters and a son. CH Loknath debuted at the age of 42 and soon came to be referred to as Uncle in film circles.
He was a popular theatre person and was first cast in the classic film Samskara. He went on to act in many commercial films and the role of a cobbler in Bhootayyana Maga Aiyyu gave him instant game and recognition. His character constantly yearns for pickles in the film. Uncle has performed in over one thousand stage plays and nearly 700 films.
He acted in Kaada Beladingalu produced by Chitraloka.com editor KM Veeresh, Siddalingaiah and BS Lingadevaru. This movie got Nationala and State award.
Public and fans can pay respect to Uncle Lokanath today at the Ravindra Kalakshetra between 12 and 2.30 pm today. He performed in hundreds of plays in this very theatre.
