Television and film actress Hemashri who had died in mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night was married to Politician and Realtor Surendra Babu who belongs to Janata Dal (s). The marriage was solemnized against the wishes of Malashri as Surendra Babu was aged 48 years, while she was around 26 years. It is reported that Surendra Babu paid a sum of Rs. 50 lacs to Hemashri's father to ensure his marriage with the actress.
Sources said Hemashri who had been trained in Adarsha Film Institute was blackmailed by her father to agree for this marriage with Surednra Babu. Within a day of her marriage, Hemashri went to Jyothi Prakash Mirji, Police Commissioner of Bengaluru to give a complaint that she was forced to marry Surendra Babu who was rich and influential. She had sought even the police protection as she feared Surendra Babu can harm her.
Hemashri was known for her maverick behaviour. Even while working in Television serials, her co-artists and technicians working for the serial were often surprised at her maverick behaviour. But she used to make amender immediately and has even apologised for her way ward behaviour. After giving a police complaint on a day after marriage, Hemashri withdrew her complaint for reasons best known to herself.
Surendra Babu who was facing some charges of swindling public properties did not maintain a good relationship with Hemashri, sources said. Hemashri had often complained with her teleserial co-artists that her parents were only trying to exploit her to make more money and were not allowing to spend any money.
