Director-producer S V Rajendra Singh Babu has submitted a proposal to the government to grant 2 acres of land at the Kantterava Studio to build a memorial for his father D Shankar Singh.

Shankar Singh along with B Vittalacharya and other was one of the founders of Mahatma Pictures which made films starting in the 1940s. Singh Babu contends in his request that his father's contribution to the Kannada film industry was unparalleled and he should be paid adequate remembrance in the form of a memorial.
