March 3 is a significant date in the history of Kannada films. It is the day that the first Kannada talkie film Sati Sulochana was released more than 80 years ago. It heralded the arrival of Kannada Language films independent from the silent era films before that. By releasing the dubbed film on March 3, a message is being sent that Independence of Kannada film industry is at stake. It is like holding a Pakistani film festival on Indian Independence Day.
