Even before the controversy over the film Uppu Huli Khara erupted yesterday, there was a curious discussion about the film. It was about who the real producer of the film was. Last week at the launch of the film, the presence of Infosys Foundation head and writer Sudha Murthy set the discussion. And when Malashree said yesterday that she was under the belief that K Manju was the producer but another producer Ramesh Reddy propped up at the last moment there was more confusion.
Till today, the mystery continued. But K Manju put an end to it today by revealing how Malashree came to act in the film. He had given advance to her to act in a movie in 2012. But the film did not take off and Malashree began acting in Garshane. Then she acted in one more film of Shankre Gowda and then her home production. All this time he was waiting for her and trying to get a new script for her. Finally he decided to revive Uppu Huli Khara of Imran Sardaria. But he was only going to pay for the actors and not produce the film. Apart from Malashree, he had paid money to three other actors and they were asked to act in this film.
Ramesh Reddy was the real producer who would take care of the production cost. Manju had just shifted the dates he had to the new producer. He said that he had made it clear to Malashree. He has said that he has paid Malashree a total of Rs 45 lakh for two movies. Now Malashree has said she will not act in Uppu Huli Khara even if Manju holds her legs. Manju hit back saying why he should hold her legs after paying her Rs 45 lakhs.
