The success of Killing Veerappan in Telugu has opened up the market for Shivarajkumar there. His next film Shivalinga has been picked up by Andhra producers to be released there in Telugu. Killing Veerappan reportedly made Rs 7-8 crore business in the first week of release in Andhra and Telangana. Therefore Shivalinga was also seen as a good proposition.

The film is directed by P Vasu and is said to be a horror film.

This is the first horror film for Shivarajkumar since Adhe Raaga Adhe haadu movie.
