Ram Gopal Varma has gone on a publicity blitz for his new film Killing Veerappan starring Shivarajkumar. On Dr Rajkumar's birthday Varma revealed several details about the film. He has said that it the most ambitious film he is making. 

Comparing Veerapan to Phoolan Devi, he has said, "Phoolan Devi is not even a cheap pick pocket compared to Veerappan. Killing Veerappan is going to be with same authenticity of Phoolan Devi film Bandit Queen targeting all audiences." Varma has said that the hunt for Veerappan was more difficult than the hunt for Osama bin Laden. He has said, "It took 10 years to kill Osama Bin Laden and it took 25 years to kill Veerappan. Never did I hear more blood curdling details of police covert operations than in the operation of Killing Veerappan. The intelligence operation behind the hunting of Veerappan has far more thrilling drama than Zero Dark Thirty. Veerappan was the most dreaded killer ever who killed around 400 people and many of them  were police officers." Varma has said that Killing Veerappan would be a better thriller than the Hollywood film Zero Dark Thirty that was about the killing of Osama bin Laden. He has announced that the film would be made in four languages; Kannada, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Killing Veerappan, "is being made in a format of catering to all languages," he has announced. The first look of the film was released yesterday to coincide with the birthday of Dr Rajkumar.
