On the last day of filing the nomination papers to the election of the Youth Congress President, actress Ramya who was tipped to be a front runner did not file her nomination ending speculation that she had been propped up by well known Congress politician D.K.Shivakumar. Keeping in tune with her maverick ways,  Ramya who had announced that she was not interested in contesting elections did a U turn and contested the booth level elelction from Shanthinagar constituency and won the election.,  Ramya's U-turn did not surprise anyone as she was making backroom moves to enter the election arena, but had deliberately planted a story that she was not interested in contesting the elections. When her contest to the top Youth Congress post was almost certain, Ramya has withdrawn from the contest.

As Ramya was focused as a strong candidate by the media and some interenal forums in the Congress party, many of her opponents in the party decided to splash anti-Ramya posters around the Congress Party offices in Bengaluru.  The content in the posters questioned her commitment to the party and its workers.  Later she was warned by  the Election officer that she has been talking to the media and projecting her candidature to the top post after winning the Booth level election.  Senior Congress leader H.Vishwanath, former Minister and presently the Member of Parliament from Mysore had commented that some Senior Congress leaders were propping up their 'girl firneds' to the election arena of the Congress Party.

On the day of filing the nomination papers, Ramya was reported to have taken a flight to Switzerland to be  with her fiancee Rafel. The elections to the Youth Congress Party is to take place on October 12 and 13.  Ramya should have now realised that her political march may not be as easier than her jolly ride in the Kannada film industry where producers had to grudgingly tolerate her tantrums. Meanwhile, Ramya may have to return to the city by October, as her next film with Upendra is likely to be start shooting from 18th.
