Mr & Mrs Ramachari is one of the best Kannada films of 2014. It marks the arrival of one more promising director to Sandalwood in the form of Santhosh Anantaram. Though the film sounds like a romance, it is a complete family entertainer which has the sentiments of love, father-son relationship, comedy and action in equal and entertaining measures.

After Bahaddur, audience can once again look up to the difference in thoughts of the young generation of Sandalwood directors when it comes to romance and its impact on the families. Full credit for the film's outcome should go to the director and the faith reposed on him by the producers.

The film starts like any other romance. Boy and girl meet and take things forward despite knowing the shortcomings. But it is in creating the personality traits of not just the lead but also all characters that Santhosh wins. He has written the story, screenplay and dialogues as well.

Since there is realistic portrayal of the various characters especially that of Achyuth who plays Yash's father and Malavika Avinash who plays Radhika Pandit's mother, there is a sense of natural drama in the entire narrative.

While the first half of the film follows the love between Ramachari and Divya the second half is about how differences between tear their lives apart. Yash plays Ramachari who takes his character from Vishnuvardhan's film Naagarahaavu. So it is natural that he calls his lover Margaret rather than Divya. But Divya's character is a mix of the Margaret character and also that of Alamelu from Naagarahaavu. But the film is not a remake and only the characters are inspired to a large extent. Unlike the Alamelu character in the old film Divya/Margaret here is bold and has a mind of her own.

The story is entirely different and in the second half other characters like that of Achyuth Kumar and Malavika play an important role. The comedy character of Sadhu Kokila is also an important link. Overall the film is a treat to watch for its subtle handling of the subject of love that is opposed by the family and also of circumstances that drive loved ones apart. Dhyan makes a guest appearance. Yash and Radhika Pandit's chemistry works full time and they look like real lovers.

The music by Harikrishna is above average. Yash has sung a song for the first time in his career and surprisingly it is the best song in the film. The cinematography and editing are perfect for the visual extravaganza the film provides. This film is a surefire hit and is a complete family entertainer that should not be missed.
