The entire Indian film industry is observing Bundh on Thurdsay 23rd February 2012 to protest against the idea of bringing the Service Tax in the purview of Film related transactions. The entire activities of the film industry including production (shooting and post production work), film screening and distribution activities will be closed on that day. The theatres in the state will be totally shut on that day.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is also supporting the Bundh call given by the Apex film body and has advised all its members to shut all the activities of the trade. Meanwhile, a procession of film industry personalities has been planned on Thursday morning to present a memorandum to the Governor of Karnataka. The memorandum will
appeal to the Central Government to withdraw their decision to bring in the film industry activiteis under the ambit of service tax.
Shootings, recording work, post production activities will be closed on Thursday. All teh theatres will stop screening on Thursday.
