Apart from the new schemes including a cap on ticket prices in multiplexes, the Karnataka budget 2017-18 also lists the previous projects of the government in favour of the film industry.
These include:
1. Increase subsidy from 75 to 125 films given to Kannada, Tulu, Kodava, Lambani and Konkani languages made in Karnataka.
2. Development of a film city in Himmavu village in Mysuru.
3. The Dr Rajkumar memorial in Bengaluru has been completed and the Dr Vishnuvardhan memorial in Mysuru is being constructed.
4. The Bengaluru International Film Festival that was being held in Bengaluru has been extended to Mysuru also.
Meanwhile the budget of the Karnataka Information Department has been enhanced to Rs 283 crore for the coming financial year 2017-18.
