The mortal remains of  Kannada Super Star Dr. Vishnuvardhan was consigned to flames.   The actor's last rites were performed by Car Driver Radhakrishna and cook Sridhar.  Vishnu's family members Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, his daugher Keerthi,   Chandana,  Sons In Law Anirudhdh and Reddy were present during the  funeral.  They were seen weeping throughout the funeral.
It was the most disturbing scene for most of the Kannada film fans and artists who were seen during the performance of last rites of the greatest actor  seen by the Kannada film industry.
There was a small degree of violence and stone throwing incidents outside  Abhiman Studios when some fans were not allowed  inside.    A swift  Car was burnt.   
The sudden death of  Kannada Movie icon Dr. Vishnuvardhan has  really devastated crores of Kannadigas around the world.  Well known cricket  Kumble just described Vishnuvardhan's death as  the most devastating loss to the state of  Karnataka in many years.   "It is an end of an era' described Kumble which  sums up the emotions of  lacs of  Kannadigas who considered him as a role model.
Besides being a great star, Dr. Vishnu  was also the most lovable human being in the Kannada film industry.  He  obtained such a huge respect in the Kannada film industry that  he was always apporached  by the industry representatives for solving many problems.   People loved him so much  that  many people who came to give their last respects really  cried   and  fainted  at National College Grounds where his body was kept for Darshan.
B.S. Yediyurappa, Chief Minister of  Karnataka  ordered state honours for  Dr. Vishnuvardhan and the government has already allotted two acres of land in  Abhiman Studios for performing his last rites.  Karnataka  Government  has already decided to have a memorial and music  for Vishnu in the two acre plot.   B.S.Yediyurappa went to the actor's residence early in the morning to pay his respects and consolve the members of the actor's family which included his actress wife Bharathi Vishnuvardhan. Ministers  Ashok and Katta Subramanya Naidu accompanied  Dr. Vishnuvardhan.
Describing Dr. Vishnuvardhan as  the greatest actor in the Kannada film industry, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that the actor was a treasure of  Karnataka.  "His death is an irreparable loss to the people of Karnataka  and  we should all try to  follow his steps to lead an ideal life' said Yediyurappa.
There was voluntary Bundh in several parts of the state including cities like Mysore, Davanagere and Hubli.  Shops were closed even in small towns  like Haveri, Honnali and Turuvekere in Karnataka. 
'Vishnuvardhan was deeply spiritual in the true traditions of  Indian culture and  it was a sea of humanity  that witnessed his  last journey.   Notwithstanding his huge popularity, Dr. Vishnu remained  an icon  for   lacs of his fans'  said  Karnataka Minister Suresh Kumar.
Jayamala, President of  Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce who had acted with  Dr. Vishnuvardhan in many films  was in a deep shock and  described  the actor's death as the most tragic incident of the year  2009.   "A   legend  of the Industry has passed away.  Kannada film Industry  which has already suffered enough has to bear this great loss' she said.   
Dr. Vishnuvardhan was often described as an ambassador for the Kannada film industry as he had many friends outside the state of  Karnataka.  Many  artists from the Tamil and Telugu film industry  including   Sharath Kumar,  President of the Tamil Nadu film artists association and Ms.  Radhika came down to Bangalore to pay their last respects.  He was an actor par excellence with  bounty of  prestigious awards  including seven stae awards from the Karnataka state  government .and six  Film Fare awards.
Vishnuvardhan showed his class as an actor in films like Nagarahaavu,  Bandhana, Nagarahole,  Muththina Haara, Suryavamsha, Veerappa Nayaka,   Yajamana,  Aaptha Mithra and Sirivantha.
