Internationally acclaimed dancer cum actress Padmini who breathed her last in Chennai on Monday morning had acted in a Kannada film titled as “Bharathi’ which had M.V.Krishnaswamy and Late Sampath in the leading roles. Surya Kumari had played the leading role in the film.
The film was directed by Veerabhadraiah and it was shot completely in Mysore. Padmini and her sister Raagini better known as Travancore sisters had participated in a dance sequence of the film which was shot in the then Navajyothi Studios in Mysore.
Incidentally, Padmini has acted in over 250 films in various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. She has just returned from USA just a month ago to settle in Chennai. She had expressed her desire to act in character roles. But fate had willed otherwise and the 74 year old actress breathed her last.
