Veteran director K S L Swamy who was suffering from breathing problems for thee last few days has breathed his last on Tuesday morning at his residence in Bangalore. KSL Swamy was admitted to Columbia Asia Hospital last month due to health related problems. However he was discharged on Monday evening and thhe veteran director-singer breathed his last early morning.
K S L Swamy started his career as an assistant director in the 60s working with G V Iyer and M R Vittal. He turned independent director with 'Gandhinagara' and went on to direct films like 'Thoogudeepa', 'Kulla Agent 000', 'Devara Duddu', 'Jimmy Gallu', 'Mitheya Seetheyaru', 'Malaya Marutha' and others. He has acted in hundreds of films in his career of over 5 decades. He last acted in Dodmane Hudga which is yet to release. He was also a singer. The best know is Ille Swarga Ille Naraka from the film Nagarahole.
K S L Swamy was a close friend of Puttamna Kanagal and completed two of Puttanna's unfinished films like 'Masanada Hoovu' and 'Saavira Mettilu'. He was also known for his singing prowess in the Kannada film industry.
K S L Swamy's body wiill be kept in Ravindra Kalakshetra today afternoon.
