Octogenarian and veteran director K Balachander who was admitted to Chennai Hospital earlier this month due to ill health has expired. K Balachander who is fondly known as KB in the filmy circles.

Earlier, Balachander had developed urinary tract infection and was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai. Many artistes and technicians from the film fraternity visited him in the hospital. Kamal Hassan who is currently busy with the post-production of 'Uttama Villain' in America tried to speak with KB.

K. Balachander is one of the directors who introduced many talents like Rajankinath, Kamal Hassan, Prakash Rai and others.
