  • Godhi Banna Saadarana Maikattu Review

godi banna sadharan maikattu movie image

Godhi Banna Saadarana Maikattu has turned out to be one of the best films to come out of Sandalwood, not just this year but in many years. It has a simple story but profound meaning in all aspects.

The blending of so many sentiments like a father-son relation, love in the time of crisis, transformation of a villain,a householder's petty but deeply felt life could not have been done better. In a style mixes realistic and commercial director Hemanth Rao has given Kannada a great film indeed.

Rakshit Shetty plays a single man caught up in a rat race and no time for his father. His father who is suffering from Alzheimer's goes missing. But it is not just the search for the father. The son also rediscovers the father's love he has missed for years. He also finds love. A villain finds purpose for life. So many characters rediscover their lives. The audience discovers a beautiful film. We can identify with every character. Even characters that come for a scene also make an impact.

The film is a bit slow in a few places but otherwise makes for an immersive watch. There is brilliant acting by Anant Nag, Achyutha and Vashista. Rakshit Shetty and Sruthi Hariharan fill life to their characters. The songs are only in montages and make an impact. Don't miss this film for anything.

  • Mane Maratakkide Review: Chitraloka Rating: 3.5/ 5

    mane maratakkidhe movie review

S V Babu's house which is on sale, constructed by Manju Swaraj is full of laughter and fun right till the end with four best comedy actors - Sadhu Kokila, Ravishankar Gowda, Kuri Prathap and Chikkanna at their best.

While there is no logic to this horror-comedy, Mane Maratakkide comes with a single agenda, which is to make the audience laugh their hearts out following the escapades of four main characters who embark upon a risky task to disprove a 'haunted' house.

Insofar as the tale is concerned, a businessman based in Dubai entrusts the four central characters with a job to help him sell his house.

Sadhu Kokila's character is in need of money for his son's heart operation and the three others are also in financial need for various other purposes. They take up the daring job to take on the haunted house and when the finally enter, the tale takes an interesting twist.

When the stage is set for some chilling horror experience, the audience is left surprised for what Manju has left in store for them. Sruthi Hariharan makes a comeback with a notable performance, and so is the four who keeps the humour level high at all times.

The makers deserves appreciation for captivating the attention despite the entire talr mostly set in a house. This one is serious with comedy, and hence do not miss the fun to know whether the house is really haunted or not.

  • Rhaatee Movie Review

    rhaatee image

Rhaatee is a special film for several reasons. There is big hopes on director Arjun as he has delivered blockbusters earlier. Dhananjay who made a promising start with Director's Special also had a point to prove. Moreover Harikrishna has not only composed music but produced this film out of love. Though it has taken two years in the making, the film has very fresh theme and narration. The looks, the narration and storyline makes Raathee one of the most unusual and special films released in Sandalwood this year.

The film starts with the lead pair Raja and Rani (Dhananjay and Shruti Hariharan) seeking dates for their wedding from the priest. They are both orphans and only have each other to fall back upon. As part of the wedding preparations they come to Bengaluru to buy necessary items. What they encounter is a dangerous world that does not care for anyone. Rani goes missing and there is no clue where she is. She is found three days later and one by one the horrors of the city's underworld is revealed. Raja and Rani try to escape but are hounded by the underworld. Do they manage to survive and return to their village forms the rest of the story. In this film, the Raja and Rani are not some glamorous, wealthy pair. They are poor but their richness is their love.

Arjun has managed to make a convincing film that would keep the audience on the edge of their seats throughout. Every second of the film pushes the envelope of narration to a tighter spot. You feel yourself immersed in the film. Adding punch to the good narrative is the excellent camerawork by Satya Hegde and editing by Deepu S Kumar.

Dhananjay and Shruti are perfect in their roles. It is Bullet Prakash who gets one of the best roles. He plays a character that gets to emote every feeling from comedy to fear and being sentimental. Another good role is for Suchendra Prasad who as a police officer is amazing. Shruti plays a fan of Darshan in the film and therefore you can also find the actor's glory in full glow. Music by Harikrishna is already a big hit and the weekend has started in real earnest for the Kannada film fans.
