Yogi is one actor who is always known for commercial films. His latest film, 'Lanke' which is released on the occasion of Ganesh festival, also joins the bandwagon. 'Lanke' is an out and out commercial film intended mainly for his plans.
Yogi plays the role of Ram, who returns from jail after completing a sentence. He happens to meet Pavani (Krishi Tapanda) who runs a elderly home. Pavani is abducted by Mandara (Kavya Shetty) a social worker, who runs a brothel. What all Ram does to free Pavani from the clutches of Mandara forms the crux of the film.
;Though this kind of films are not new, Lanke has all the ingredients to attract the masses and has a lot of fights, songs, comedy and glamour elements in it.The film has an overdose of action, songs and glamour, particularly in the second half of the film. The film manages to engage the audience with commercial elements, though there is no freshness in it. That's what makes the film watchable.
'Lanke' is a multi starrer film with many actors playing prominent roles in it. There are three heroines in the film, with Kavya Shetty's character being the highlight. Kavya has two shades and she has done her bit. Yogi carries the role of Ram easily as he has done such kind of action films earlier. Sharath Lohitashwa who is seen in the role of a transgender manages to woo the audience with his performance. Krishi Tapanda has nothing much to do. Late Sanchari Vijay shines in a tiny role.
Ram Prasad makes a promising directorial debut with 'Lanke'. Karthik Sharma's music and Ramesh Babu's cinematography is an average.
