Well known Producer, Distributor and Exhibitor M Bhaktavatsalam is no more. He breathed his last at a private hospital. He was the recipient of Dr Rajkumar Award, 2012, for Lifetime Achievement. 

Bhaktavatsalam was running the Minerva and Lavanya Theater in Bengaluru and at Mysore Lakshmi theater.  In 1971 He produced Sampoorna Ramayana and Kanneshwara Rama directed by MS Sathyu starring Ananthnag, BV Karanth, Amul Palekar, Shabana Ajmi. this movie became national news.

Mr M Bhaktavatsala, was president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) for seven years, the youngest president of the Film Federation of India and two-time president of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, he has held various senior posts in the industry.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಹಿರಿಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ, ವಿತರಕ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಭಾರತ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎಂ. ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಎಂ.ಎಸ್. ಸತ್ಯು ನಿರ್ದೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನೇಶ್ವರ ರಾಮ, ಸಂಧ್ಯಾರಾಗ, ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ ಮೊದದಾದ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ, ಹಲವಾರು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿತರಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಚಂಡಮಾರುತ ಎಂಬ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಏಕೈಕ ಕನ್ನಡಗಿ ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ.

ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ ಅವರಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರಾಜ್‍ಕುಮಾರ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಭಕ್ತವತ್ಸಲ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ, ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ಸಚಿವೆ ಜಯಮಾಲಾ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಚಿನ್ನೇಗೌಡ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಹಲವಾರು ಗಣ್ಯರು ಸಂತಾಪ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
