Former Chief Minister and BJP state President B S Yediyurappa is likely to watch Pradeep starrer 'Tiger' today at 4.30 PM show in Santhosh theater in Bangalore.

'Tiger' is written and directed by Nandakishore and is produced by actor and Pradeep's father-in-law K Shivaram. K Shivaram has produced this film exclusively for his son-in-law and apart from producing it has also played a prominent role in the film.

The film stars Pradeep, Shivaram, Ompuri, Chikkanna, Ravishankar, Rajesh Nataranga and others. Arjun Janya has composed the songs for the film, while Sudhakar S Raj is the cameraman. Mysore Talkies is distributing the film. 

The year 2009 marked the milestone of Kannada Film Industry when it turned 75. Following the special occasion, the industry held a grand event 'Amruta Mahotsava'. The main chief guest of the function which was held for three days was none other than B.S.Yediyurappa, who took oath as the 22 Chief Minister of Karnataka on Friday.

Coincidentally, a decade later, the current year - 2019 marks the diamond jubilee of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). Guess who is going to be the chief guest on the occasion when the film's body is gearing up to hold a mega event for completing 75 years? It is again going to be none other than Mr. Yediyurappa! Ironically, the Chief Minister is also in his 70s and had turned 76 in February.

The Amrutha Mahotsava, organised by KFCC, was conducted in March 2009. Renowned producer Parvathamma Rajkumar had inaugurated the ceremony which was held for three days. Former minister Dr. Jayamala was the KFCC President during the Amrutha Mahotsava' event.

On this occasion, Chitraloka editor KM Veeresh, had organised a photo exhibition displaying 3000 Kannada film photographs, which won Limca Book Of Records.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has come to the rescue of at least 6000 workers in the Kannada film industry by issuing them two coupons worth Rs 1500 each.

Following the hardships of these workers with no work during the lockdown period, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman Suneel Puranik took the initiative along with renowned filmmaker Rockline venkatesh, KFCC President Jairaj and Actress Tara and Rudresh, who had approached Mr. Vijayendra Karnataka State General Secretary and the son of Chief Minister.

Chitraloka has learnt that it is Mr. Vijayendra who took up the issue discussing it with Mr. Yediyurappa, who in turn directing the authorities to issue the coupons, which has been handed over to Mr. Puranik for distribution.

For three years now Shilpa Ganesh, the wife of popular Sandalwood star Ganesh has been an active member of the BJP. She joined the party in April 2013. She was made the state vice-president of the BJP's Manila Morcha or the women's wing.

But Ganesh has never been active in politics himself but supported his wife.

Now after BS Yedurupappa was selected as the state BJP chief it was not just Shilpa who went to congratulate him personally but also Ganesh. It was this gesture by Ganesh that has made Sandalwood folks sit up and take notice and wonder if Ganesh is also looking to take a plunge into active politics. Moreover the next State Assembly election is only 2 years away.

Don't mistake 'Golden Star MLA' as a film title. It could become a real life reality by May 2018. That is when the next election to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly will most likely be held. But why are we predicting an event two years in advance? Because we think there is a clear and very good possibility of that happening. You may wonder why Ganesh who is very busy with his work in Sandalwood with many films on hand would want to give it up and jump into elections and politics. Here is the scenario.

Ganesh's wife Shilpa is already a card-carrying member of the BJP. The party is hoping to return to power after losing the last elections. The BJP state chief who will be leading the party into election in 2018 is BS Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister.

Sources in the party say that it is keen that Ganesh become a candidate rather than his wife from the party. If these sources are to be believed, then the constituency from which Ganesh will contest is already chosen by insiders in the party! Sounds incredible. But in politics, as they say, nothing is impossible. 

Ganesh has been seen along with his wife greeting BS Yeddyurappa but in his personal capacity and not as a party member. But when his wife is in the party, there are no chances for guessing that he would have a liking for some other party. That takes care of which party he will be supporting. Then coming to taking the political plunge, the party is said to be cultivating Ganesh and preparing the ground for his political debut, more importantly, election debut in the next Assembly elections. 

It is not a secret that even in the last election, many political parties tried to rope in big stars. Shiva Rajkumar took part in the campaign on behalf of his wife Geetha Shivarajkumar. Actresses like Bhavana, Pooja Gandhi and Rakshita took the political plunge. The actors who were already in politics like Tara, Jaggesh and others were even more active. But all parties failed to rope in a big male star to contest the elections. There were said to be attempts to rope in three big stars by different political parties. Shiva Rajkumar, Upendra and Sudeep are said to have been approached to contest the elections. But all three did not bite the bullet. This time around, the process of trying to impress the actors has already begun. Ganesh is already a choice for the BJP. But as of now, he has stayed away from even commenting on politics let alone giving any hints on contesting elections. After Ananth Nag, Ambareesh, Jaggesh and Ramya, no big star has taken to contesting elections in Karnataka. 

Will Ganesh be the next? We will have to wait for more than a year to find out.

The State Government on Monday (June 15) has given permission to resume shooting for films which have already started with immediate effect.

Film related activities were stopped in March due to lock down. Last month permission was given for shooting of tele serials as well as post production of films. Meanwhile, many personalities from the Kannada film industry had met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and requested to give permission to resume shooting.

So, the State Government has issued an order to resume the shooting for films, which were stalled mid-way due to lock down. The Government will be issuing a precautionary list soon. The film teams which will resume shooting as to adhere to it and shoot the film according to the precautionary measures.

Puneeth on Thursday met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and donated Rupees Five Lakh towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Karnataka witnessed a worst flood in the recent times and many celebrities have done their bit to help the people in the flood hit areas. Puneeth on his part met CM B S Yediyurappa personally and handed over a cheque of rupess five lakh towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Earlier, actor Upendra had also donated Five lakh towards the fund. He had also urged his party members to help the flood victims.

After the State Government gave its green signal allowing shooting of television serials with certain conditions along with easing restrictions to other sectors in lockdown 4.0, a delegation led by Karnataka Film Academy chairman Suneel Puranik including president of Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce Jairaj, KFCC former president Sa Ra Govindu met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, pleading with representation to allow film shooting in the lockdown 5.0 (According to Cinema Industry in Karnataka this will be 6.0).

The delegation also included noted producer K Manju, M N Suresh, A Ganesh, Umesh Banakar, President of the Producers Association Praveen Kumar and others.

"We have given a representation to the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to allow filming with limited crew once the lockdown 4.0 ends. We are hopeful after Yediyurappa has assured that he will look into it," says Mr. Suneel Puranik.

He goes onto add that Kannada film industry has suffered a loss of around Rs 500 crore due to lockdown. "More than fifty films have stopped with many of them left with just the shooting of songs and climax scenes to wrap up the shooting process. We have also assured that safety norms such as wearing of masks, and limiting crew during shooting will be followed," he said.

Also, the delegation urged the chief minister to allow operation of single screen theatres with certain conditions while the centre government decides on the fate of multiplexes.

The delegation also thanked the State Government for providing food item coupons worth over Rs 2 crore to various sectors of the Kannada film industry. The team also said that it has been requested to increase the ticket fare by Rs 5 so as to utilise the same for the producers welfare trust.

ಮೊನ್ನೆಯಷ್ಟೇ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಫಿಲಂ ಚೇಂಬರ್, ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ವ್ಯಾಕ್ಸಿನ್ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿತ್ತು. ಈಗ ಸಿಎಂ ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಪ್ಯಾಕೇಜ್ ಘೋಷಿಸಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಲವರು ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪನವರ ಪ್ಯಾಕೇಜ್‍ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಗೊಂದಲಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟನೆ ನೀಡುವಂತೆ ಫಿಲಂ ಚೇಂಬರ್ ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ, ಹಿರಿಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕ ಸಾ.ರಾ.ಗೋವಿಂದು ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
