    There is big trouble for Kannada films. It seems the Censor board in Bengaluru has stopped working now. After the recent controversy over Kiragurina Gayyaligalu that involved the CBFC, it looks like the censor board has stopped doing the censor for new films.

    Sources told Chitraloka that the head office in Mumbai has sent an instruction to the regional censor office not the accept any applications for censor certificate till the case of Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu is solved. 

    Another source said normally during the month of December and March lot of movies will come for censor certificate.

    Chitraloka enquired and came to know that yesterday and today there was no films screened for censor. Usually censor members watch one or two films a day, apart from non feature films, advertisements, trailers, promos etc.

  • Censor Chief Walks Out of Chamber

    The Regional Board of Censor Certification chief Natasha D'souza walked out of the Karntaka Film Chamber of Commerce unable to answer the questions that was asked to her. Natasha D'souza had come to the KFCC office on Monday morning to attend a meeting called by KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu. Not only Natasha, the team members of 'Kiragurina Gayyaligalu' had also come to the meeting. The members of the team posed some questions, which the Censor Chief could not answer. So, she left the chamber without answering the questions.

    'Kiragurina Gayyaligalu' producer Agni Sridhar who was very much upset about the issue told that he would hold a 'Chaddi' dharna in front of the Censor office on Thursday if the issue is not taken to consideration. Dwarkanath has said he will take a legal action against the Censor board.

    Sa Ra Govindu said that the local censor members must be blamed for the whole issue and the local censor members who have watched and given the certificate must resign from their posts and said KFCC will support Kiragurina Gayalligalu Producers in there protest.

    Despite many controversies and problems 'Kiragurina Gayyaligalu' directed by Sumana Kittur has completed a 50 day at the box-office and is running successfully across Karnataka. To mark the occasion, Sumana along with her team is travelling to major cities across Karnataka and is thanking the audience for the film's success. Recently the film team was in Mysore and the team held a press meet and thanked the audience for the success.

    'Kiragurina Gayyaligalu' is based on the very famous novel of the same name by Poornachandra Tejaswi. Based on the novel, Suman Kittur and Agni Sridhar has written the screenplay, while Sridhar has written the dialogues for the film also. The film stars Shwetha Srivatsav, Karunya Ram, Manasa Joshi, Sonu Gowda, Sukrutha Wagle, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sharath Lohitashwa and others in prominent roles.

  • Sridhar and Team Stages Dharna Before Censor Board Office

    As announced earlier 'Agni' Sridhar and other pro Kannada activists protested in front of the Censor Board office on Thursday morning. Earlier, 'Agni' Sridhar who was upset about the Regional Board of Censor Certification about muting many dialogues in 'Kirigurina Gayyaligalu' along with others went to the Censor office in Koramangala and tried give a memorandum, but the Censor officer Natasha D'souza was busy watching a film. However, 'Agni' Sridhar, Indudhar Honnapura, Dwarkanath and others had announced that they would stage a 'Chaddi Dharna' in front of the Censor Office on Thursday.

    Likewise, the dharna was held before the Censor office. Agni Sridhar met Natasha D'souza and gave a memorandum regarding muting of dialogues of 'Kiragurina Gayyaligalu'. The Censor officer seems to have received the memorandum and has assured Sridhar to send the memorandum to the Mumbai office.
