  • Documentary on Kalasa-Banduri by Pooja

    Actress Pooja Gandhi is producing a documentary on the Kalasa Banduri drinking water project. Setting aside some time from the new film Ravani that she is producing and acting in now, the film team will make the documentary in about a month's time.

    The documentary will be released in Prof MD Nanjundaswamy's memorial Amrita Bhoomi in Chamrajnagar later this year. At least half a dozen Sandalwood stars will be part of the project which will start on Tuesday.

  • KFCC Supports Kalasa-Banduri Project

    Just days after actors Sudeep and Shivarajakumar supporting the implementation of the Kalasa-Banduri canal project in North Karnataka, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has also decided to support the implementation of the canal project and will be joining the ongoing agitation on the 13th of September.

    On Wednesday, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had held a meeting and it was decided there to support the ongoing agitation by farmers. It was decided that the entire industry will be participating the ongoing agitation on the 13th of September. The industry is likely to shut down for one day and will be supporting the cause on that day.

    The Kannada film industry on Friday held a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statute near Anand Rao circle in Bangalore. The Kannada film industry has been supporting the Kalasa Bhanduri cause which help the farmers of Northern parts of Karnataka. The film industry had also banned the participation in the Goa International Film Festival as Goa is against this project.

    So, the Kannada film industry headed by KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu had held a rally and protest from Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to Mahatma Gandhi statute near Anand Rao circle. Shivarajakumar, Srinath, Ragini, Sanjana, Ashok, Rockline Venkatesh and others participated in the rally and protests.

    In view of the Karnataka bandh tomorrow in protest against the Kalasa-Banduri Tribunal verdict against drinking water for north Karnataka districts there will be no screening of films in theatres between 6am and 6pm.

    All theatres have cancelled the morning, matinee and first shows tomorrow.

    However the second shows of 6.30pm or 7.30pm is unaffected. However some multiplexes are still collecting bookings for the day shows. But what will happen to these bookings if shows are not held has to be seen. The Kannada film industry has expressed its support for the bandh and members of many organizations will be part of the protest rally tomorrow morning.

    Actress Pooja Gandhi and director JD Chakravarthy have teamed up for a new film even before their earlier announced film Raavani goes on the floor. Chakravarthy was to direct the film with Pooja in the lead. But even before that they are starting another film which is as yet untitled.

    In this film, Chakravarthy will be acting in the lead role with Pooja Gandhi. Both Chakravarthy and Pooja Gandhi are producing this film. Raavani will start after this film.

    Meanwhile they have also completed a 30-minute documentary on the Kalasa-Banduri drinking water project. Pooja Gandhi is the anchor of the documentary directed by Chakravarthy. It is expected to be released within the next few days.

    Kannada film industry on Sunday not only participated in a huge rally, but also extended it's full support to the implementation of the Kalasa-Banduri project. The farmers of the north Karnataka particularly the Hubli-Dharwad region have been protesting for the implementation of the Kalasa-Banduri water canal project in Hubli for the last 59 days.

    On Sunday many sandalwood stars including Shivarajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar, Ravichandran, Upendra, Yash, Ganesh, Vijay, Sharan, Pooja Gandhi, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Aniruddh, Ravishankar, Rockline Venkatesh, Doddanna, KFCC president Thomas D'Souza, Sa Ra Govindu and others went to Hubli andd participated in a huge rally near Kittur Rani Chennamma circle.

    All the stars urged for the implementation of the Kalasa-Bansuri water canal project which would be helpful for the farmers of North Karnataka.

  • Sandalwood to Boycott Film Festival in Goa

    The Kannada film industry will boycott the International Film Festival of India in support of the Kalasa Banduri drinking water project. he festival organised by the Union Government is held in Goa every year. This year it starts on November 20.

    Even if Kannada film makers have already sent their entries, no one will participate, sources said. Goa is opposing the drinking water project in Karnataka while the Union Government is refusing to interfere.

  • Sharan Hunger Protest

    Actor Sharan who is staying in Hubli which is his home town is participating in Kalasa Banduri protest from last few days. Sharan will be proceeding to Bailahongala and he will garlanding to the statue of Sangolli Rayanna and will be visiting Kitturu Rani Chennamma Samadhi.

    Sharan will be sitting for an hunger protest with the farmers for a day.

     

  • Sharan writing letter in blood

    This is not a film story but real. Actor Sharan is going back to take part in the Kalasa-Banduri drinking water protest today. He will sit on a dharna between 10 am and 5 pm at Navalgund. After that he is writing a letter in his blood and hand it over to the Thasildar demanding implementation of the project.

    Sharan has participated in the agitation for the project twice earlier. Today it is an attempt to take the agitation a step further.
