  • Bharjari Movie Review - Chitraloka Rating 4/5

    bharjari movie image

The hattrick hit for Dhruva Sarja is here. After Addhuri and Bahaddur, there is no doubt that his new film Bharjari will become a big hit. The film has everything you want to see in an entertainer. Dhruva Sarja is amazing. From the very first scene to the last he keeps the audience spellbound with his dance, fights, dialogues and acting. To give him company are Rachita Ram and Haripriya which is a double bonanza for fans. There is also comedy with actors Sadhu Kokila and Rangayana Raghu providing fun. There is sentiment and dramatic elements in the film too. Family sentiments are plenty. From brother-sister sentiment to father-son sentiments, director Chetan Kumar knows the pulse of the audience and keeps it coming.

Bharjari is one of the best films of the year. The film is about a young man who does not know what his ambition is. From wanting to become a soldier to a doctor to a farmer, he changes his dreams every day. But in the end he does not have a good education even though his father is a lecturer. He falls in love with a girl and tries to woo her. He is successful and even starts a new business. But suddenly he is called to join the Army. He does not want to join but everyone else does. He gets into the train but does he reach his destination. The story takes a different turn from there on. It is a complete surprise package which you should watch in theaters.

The film has excellent camera work by Sreesha Kuduvalli and music by V Harikrishna. Another important contributor is editor Deepu S Kumar. Director Chetan Kumar has managed to extract the best out of all the actors. Dhruva, Haripirya and Rachita Ram have given their best performances. Tara is seen in a very good role. After becoming a politician she is rarely seen in films these days but in this film gets one that remains in the mind. Others who get good roles are Sadhu Kokila, Avinash and Srinivas Murthy. Anil and Uday, who died during the shooting of Mastigudi are seen in important roles.

  • Bicchugatti Review - Chitraloka Rating 3.5/ 5*

    Bicchugatti Image

After directing several youthful entertainers, director Hari Santhosh has picked up an important part of the state's history dating back to 16 to 17 centuries old of the timeline of palegars of Chitradurga including Madakari Nayaka, before his reign and his predecessors. Adopting the works of writer B L Venu, the film's first chapter focuses on Dalavaayi Dange, revolving around the mightiest and ruthless commander-in-chief - Dalavaayi Mudanna.

Attempting a periodic of this magnitude is itself an act of appreciation, which dates back to time when men were known for their bravery and their sacrifices for their motherland and the rulers who protected their citizens against all forms of threats from the enemies within and beyond the boundaries of their kingdom.

Apart from all the rich history, the makers have done their best to present it in an appealing manner on the screen right from the performances, to the technicalities involved in the making.

Since the first chapter is heavily based on the mighty Dalavaayi Mudanna, actor Prabhakar of Bahubali excels and his willingness to dub his own voice for his character is a commendable effort. Whereas, Rajavardhan, son of popular actor Dingri Nagaraj is impressive throughout the film with his maturity to handle such an important and an iconic personality.

The art team and the visual effects, especially the sequences involving the ferocious tiger is one of the highlights for the audience. It certainly takes the audience back to the glorious days with enough information embedded in the script for anyone to know about the essence and importance of such an era.

The other highlight is that of the versatile actress Hariprriya, who as Siddhambe is a treat for the fans. She effortlessly pulls out the character which has multiple shades to it.

As a whole, the movie does justice to the history and to a greater extent in bringing it on the screen within the limitations which it has been filmed. A must watch for all who love history, and periodic films. Go book your tickets for a date back in time of a glorious past.

  • D/O Parvathamma Teaser Review

Sumalatha in Daughter Of Parvathamama Teaser

The teaser of Haripriya's 25th film D/o Parvathamma that was released today is turning out to be an online sensation. And rightly so. The teaser is 101 seconds long and so is almost a trailer. There are no dialogues but a couple of captions are used.

The background music sets the tone for a suspense thriller. It leaves you in no doubt that the film has suspense element. The trailer starts by paying homage of Rajkumar and Parvathamma Rajkumar. The audio of the film will be released by PRK Audio of Puneeth Rajkumar and this teaser is

available on PRK Audio. After an drone shot of a city flyover, the visual moves to a car slowly crawling up to a stop. It is raining and it is night. The music and this setup provides the perfect start to show a suspense theme.

The dramatic announcement that this is Haripriya's 25th film is made. The caption 'Haripriya Investigates' reveals that the actress plays an investigator. Then the backshot of her facing a noticeboard possibly in a police station gives this caption credence. Another caption 'Mistakes Die' morphs to 'Mistakes Don't Die' which shows that the cop is investigating a murder. That is the idea this caption generates.

In a slow motion walk the cop walks inside a bar towards some guy drinking at a table. As she walks she grabs a beer bottle which ends up being smashed on his stunned head. This is a stunning visual and heralds the arrival of Haripirya in the mould of Malashree and more recently Ragini Dwivedi as a female action star.

Then the teaser moves on to the next character the title talks about. The daughter is Haripirya so who is the mother. An old Rajkumar song plays in the background 'Yenta Soundarya Kande' and then Sumalatha who is reading a newspaper places it down and looks up. So the daughter and mother are revealed.

Director Shankar J seems to have nicely packaged the film with commercial goodies. It is a very surprising film to start with as two of the main protagonists are women. If it is a murder mystery suspense, what is the cop's mother's role in unravelling it? That is still a suspense for which we may have to wait for the trailer of the film. But for now, the teaser of D/o Parvathamma has cleverly set the tone. It is an interesting teaser that will have fans wanting for more.

  • Dana Kaayonu Movie Review

    dana kayonu movie image

Yograj Bhat and Duniya Vijay team up and what we get is Dana Kaayonu. It is not a regular Yograj Bhat film and it is also not a regular Duniya Vijay film. But the outcome is fantastic. The story has many twists and turns and the characters of people change with each different twist. The change in behaviour is shocking but in a film it makes for a great watch.

Duniya Vijay plays a cattle herder and Priyamani a police aspirant. Both are from poor families that live in a village. The village headman is constantly trying to kick out Vijay and his family from the village. But they somehow manage to resist it. Soon a strange situation develops. A representative of a foreign company comes to the village and finds out that there is a single rare breed of cattle. It belongs to Vijay. Suddenly everyone in the village is after the bull. The bull has its own love story going on and what you get is an interesting mix of emotional upheavals, dramatic events and a surprising twists. The film probes the question whether it is humans who are good or the animals.

Duniya Vijay, Priyamani, Suchendra Prasad, Rangayana Raghu, Biradara and others give excellent performances. Biradara will win rave applause for his role. He looks and acts every bit a real character.

The songs in the film are top class. Harikrishna gives foot tapping tunes and Yograj Bhat has penned some memorable lines in the lyrics. Deepu S Kumar's editing gives the film a fast narrative and Sugnan's photography is breathtaking. The scenes involving the cattle is shot brilliantly.

Dana Kayonu is a good film for fans of both Bhat and Vijay. The regular film audience will get to see something really "different". This is not a regular film but at the same time it is entertaining and gives some food for thought.Chitraloka Rating - 3.5/5
