  • Khakii Review: Chitraloka Rating 3.5/5*

    khakii review, chitraloka rating 3.5

A majority of Kannada movies these days are no longer just about typical commercial mass masalas with regular stories, as films like Khakii are making their mark with a blend of social concern wrapped along with entertainment.

Director Naviin Reddy B, who turns an independent director after 16 years of experience in the industry, has successfully dealt burgeoning corruption and lackadaisical attitude of a certain section of members in the police department.

The movie revolves around a common man, who works as a cable operator. Khakii takes a serious turn when an honest policewoman dies in an accident and a corrupt one replaces her, creating havoc for the local residence. How the protagonist with the help of a few take it upon themselves to fight against the evil and corrupt system is the crux of Khakii

To do so, a parallel police system becomes evident. Naviin Reddy does it with freshness and innovative approach added with necessary commercial elements to keep the audience engaged. In between, there is a cute love story with the presence of beautiful Tanya Hope. She is more than a beauty quotient, and it is Chiranjeevi Sarja who makes the most out of this decent tale.

The sensible story is backed with good technical team with not many visible discrepancies to point out. Khakii is worth a watch for its honesty and the fight it puts out against the prevailing corrupt system in our society.

  • Rambo Vs Amma

rambo vs amma i love you

After the clash of politicians in the Assembly election in the first half of May, it will be the clash of Sandalwood stars after that. The voting for the election is on May 12 and counting of votes is on May 15. The immediate Friday after that is May 18. The clash of Sandalwood films will start right on that day. The big two films releasing are

Rambo 2 starring Sharan and Amma I Love You starring Chiranjeevi Sarja and directed by KM Chaitanya. For the last few weeks big films of stars have not released in Kannada. They will not be released till the elections are over. The election season is considred not good for big budget films. Even today however

Tagaru and Gultoo are making money at the box office. But it will be a risk to release new films with big budgets. Every Friday in the last two weeks a good number of Kannada films are releasing. But stars like Chiru Sarja and Sharan kept away.

Therefore unlike other languages there are no films for summer season in Kannada so far. But this will change in the last two weeks of May.

  • Ramleela Good Collections

    ramleela image

Chiranjeevi Sarja and Amulya starrer Ram-Leela that released last week has seen a good collection at the box office despite the incessant rain in Bengaluru and other parts of the city over the last few days. Producer Soundarya Jagadish is evidently happy at the outcome and says the box office collections are better than he had expected so far.

"We released the film in 162 theatres. We were afraid that because of the cyclonic rains the collections would be affected. But it has been better than expected and in the second week, all the 162 theatres Ram-Leela was released in will continue with the film. We are adding a few more theatres. That is a very good sign and we actually expect the collections to improve in the second week," he said.

Despite many more films releasing this week including Boxer and Bengaluru-23 this week, Ram-Leela retaining so many theatres in the second week means it is on a very strong wicket. The good response from both critics and the audience has helped the film with word-of-mouth publicity getting it more audience.
