An advocate from Tamil Nadu has filed a complaint in the magistrate court in Coimbatore urging the court to direct filing of a case against Kannada actors Puneeth Rajkumar, Upendra and Darshan. It has been alleged that these three actors provoked Kannada people to riot in the Kaveri water dispute last week by their speeches. The lawyer has requested the court to impose sedition charges against the Kannada actors. Sedition charges under Indian Penal Code is a controversial topic in India.

The complaint was filed before the court by P Elangovan, president of Tamil Desiya Peravai. He has claimed that the Kannada actors provoked Kannadigas to riot and cause harm to Tamilians in Karnataka.

IPC Section 124 (A) says: "Sedition — Whoever, by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards, the Government established by law in India, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, to which fine may be added, or with imprisonment which may extend to three years, to which fine may be added, or with fine."

Did the South Indian International Movie Awards SIIMA, come to Bengaluru for the first time in its 10-year-history to celebrate Puneeth Rajkumar's memory as it claims or to fight the Filmfare Awards which is its competition? 

Let us understand the chronology. Earlier this year, it was announced that Filmfare Awards South would be held in Bengaluru this time. Since 1990s when the Filmfare Awards was disrupted due to ongoing Cauvery riots, the awards were held only in Hyderabad and Chennai in alternate years.

SIIMA was not even in existence then. It was a private company formed 10 years ago. In these 10 years never once did they have any event in Bengaluru. But when Filmfare, a Times of India group publication, announced Bengaluru as its venue SIIMA jumped in first to capture the market. 

Since both are business ventures, there is no need to dig financial details. Bengaluru is big enough for both businesses to flourish. But using Puneeth's name by SIIMA for a purely business decision is taking things too far. 

Private channels like Kasturi, Zee, Colors, Udaya and Suvarna have held awards programmes for Kannada films. Various print publications in Kannada and English like Screen, Hello Gandhinagara, Chittara and others have held events. Organisations like Chandanavana Film Critics Academy have held awards functions for Kannada films. All of them had a cordial relationship with the Kannada film industry. 

SIIMA on the other hand looks like a two-day-operator who will pack the bags after the two-day-event, count the profit and leave. The Kannada film industry bodies who have been ignored by them are naturally miffed. They could have ignored them, but this may turn out to be the habit for everyone trying to profit from the Kannada film industry and its stars. 

KFI should not be allowed to become a profit and scoot playground for anyone who comes once a year for two days without real love for Kannada films.

Puneeth starrer 'Yuvaratna' is getting bigger day by day. The film already boasts of two heroes including Puneeth and Dhananjay. Now another well known actor has joined the star cast and it is none other than Diganth, who is fondly known as Doodh Peda in the filmy circles.

The team of 'Yuvaratna' has confirmed that Diganth is on board and this is the first time that Diganth is sharing screen space with Puneeth Rajakumar. Though Diganth plays a prominent role in the film, he nor the team has not divulged any details and is tight lipped about his character in the film.

'Yuvaratna' is scripted and directed by Santhosh Anandaram and produced by Vijay Kiragandoor under Hombale Films. Sayesh Sehgal is the heroine. Prakash Rai,  Dhananjay, John Kokken and others play prominent roles in the film.

The audio of the much awaited Puneeth Rajkumar film Dodmane Hudga will be released on August 14. Harikrishna has composed the music for the film and it is being released by D-beats.

The film is directed by Suri. The shooting of the film was wrapped up recently with the song Abhimanigale Nammane Devru.

16 years on the Mahalaya Amavasye festival Dr Rajkumar was kidnapped by forest brigand Veerappan. In a strange coincidence today, Puneeth Rajkumar's 25th film Dodmane Hudga has released on the same Mahalaya Amavasye day.

It may be a coincidence but significant. The film has opened to tremendous response and has had many early morning shows in many theatres in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. Even in main theatre Nartaki the first show was at 7 am.

The songs of 'Dodmane Huduga' composed by V Harikrishna is all set to be released on the 14th of August.

Recently, the title song of the film was shot recently across five cities in a span of six days. Sources say, the post-production of the film is almost over. The audio release of the film is scheduled for August 14th and the release date is yet to be announced in the coming days.

After being in news for almost an year, Puneeth starrer 'Dodmane Huduga' was launched at his residence finally on the festival day of Holi on Thursday. The film was launched at Puneeth's residence in Sadashivanagar with Ravichandran sounding the clap for the first shot.

Many of Puneeth's films were launched at his residence in Sadashivanagar. But after 'Arasu', the venue of Puneeth's film muhuraths were changed due to various reasons. One of the main reason was that the house was razed and Puneeth and family were relocated elsewhere. Then Puneeth's films were launched at Kanteerava Studios in Bangalore. Now that Puneeth and family has returned back to his residence at Sadashivanagar, 'Dodmane Huduga'  continued the legacy once again and it is the first film to be launched at the residence after almost eight years.

Ravichandran who is the chief guest for Puneeth's most of the films muhuraths graced the occasion and sounded the clap. Shivarajkumar, Parvathamma Rajkumarr, Soori, Satya Hegde and others were present at the occasion.

The film is yet to get a certificate from the CBFC and some final works are pending, but the release date has been more or less decided by the film makers. However an official announcement will be made only after the film obtains a CBFC certificate. Actor Puneeth Rajakumar and director 'Duniya' Suri will be promoting their latest film 'Dodmane Huduga' in many cities in northern part of Karnataka. The promotional tour will kick start today and will end on the 13th of this month.

The promotional campaign will start today from Belgaum and will continue to Dharwad and Hubli. Tomorrow Puneeth and Suri will be visiting theaters in Davanagere, Chitradurga and Tumkur. After that two days gap have been given because of festival and the duo will be visiting Raichur and Gulbarga on 12th of this month. The campaign will end on 13th in Bidar.

The 'Dodmane Huduga' team is almost thorough with the shooting of the film, except for some songs and if sources are to be believed, then the film is all set to be released on the 11th of August.

Recently, the title song of the film was shot recently across five cities in a span of six days. Sources say, the post-production of the film is almost over except for shooting of a couple of songs, which will be finished shortly. The team has decided to finish everything by July 20th and is planning an August 11th release.

'Duniya' Suri is the writer and director of this film. Govindu is the producer. Puneeth Rajakumar, Radhika Pandith, Ambarish, Sumalatha, Ravishankar, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan and others play prominent roles in the film.

The release date of Puneeth Rajakumar starrer 'Dodmane Huduga' has been finally announced and the film is all set to be released on the 23rd of September.

Director Soori and producer Govindu confirmed the news during the press meet of the film held on Thursday night. The press conference was attended by Puneeth Rajakumar, Radhika Pandith, Yogaraj Bhatt, Ambarish, Sumalatha Ambarish and others.

All the artistes who were present during the press conference said they had a very good time during the making of the film and thanked the makers for making such a film.

The first phase of 'Yuva Sambharama' a part of promotional activities of Puneeth Rajakumar Starrer 'Yuvaratna' has concluded in Mandya on Tuesday the 23rd of March. The team got an overwhelming response from all over and Puneeth and team got a great welcome from all the places he had visited.

Puneeth Rajakumar's 'Rajakumara' is nearing completion and is all set to hit screens sometime in March. Meanwhile, the first song of the film called 'Yarivanu Kannadadavanu' is all set o be launched today afternoon through the D Beats channel in You tube. The release is scheduled at 4 PM.

'Rajakumara' is being produced b Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films and being directed by Santhosh Anandram who had earlier directed 'Mr and Mrs Ramachari'. Santhosh himself has written the story and the screenplay of the film. V Harikrishna is the music director, while Venkatesh Anguraj is the cameraman.

'Rajakumara' has an ensemble star cast including Puneeth Rajakumar, Priya Anand, Sharath Kumar, Ananth Nag and others. The film has been shot in Bangalore, Mysore, Australia and other places.
