Some of the top technicians from the Kannada film industry are collaborating to set up a college for the entertainment industry in Bengaluru. Cinematographers Satya Hegde, Shekar Chandru, director Nanda Kishore and many others are part of this project. Many other big names are joining to create a world-class college for acting, cinematography and direction. Bengaluru already boasts of a top course for art direction in the Chitrakala Pariahat. The new college will become a reality by the end of the year, say informed sources.
Some Sandalwood directors and even the Directors Association conduct classes in various film making techniques. But there is no academic college except for in cinematography and art courses in the city. Universities including private universities in Bengaluru do not offer the subjects necessary for a career in films and the entertainment industry. To fill this gap, the Sandalwood stars are coming together to launch this college.
The groundwork for the project is already underway. The Corona pandemic however put a break on it for the last two months. The current plan is to start courses in the next academic year.
