To screen Kannada movie in Europe is a big challenge. It’s an expensive market to explore. Considering the smaller market for Kannada movies, we cannot re-censor the movie. If we re-censor the movie, it will cost 2-3 euros per minute. It will cost around 800 Euros.
Once you get the classification, you need to follow the rules of admission as per rating. This will affect the Kannada audiences with kids to watch the movie (Most of the movies will be rated PG-12 or PG-15). Another alternative is that, we can screen the movie as part of community event (promoting Kannada culture).For more wider release, re-censoring is a must.
GBSM is the first Kannada movie that was censored in Germany. It will help in expanding the market and allows non-Kannadigas to attend the screening.
Many of the Bollywood movies are censored with British Board of Film Classification. The advantage of this is that, it’s valid for screening in most of the foreign countries. As of now, No Kannada movies are censored with British Board of Film Classification.
