The State Film Awards for 2010-11 and 2011 will be held in Dharwad on February 9. Official announcement will be made by the Information Department shortly. The awards for both the years will be held on the same stage. Usually, the hometown of the current chief minister is selected for the awards function. The first awards during the CM's tenure has been venues as seen during HD Kumaraswamy and BS Yeddyurappa's tenures. But Siddaramaiah seems to have let go of the opportunity to hold it in Mysore.
From 2011 onwards the awards are given on a calendar year basis instead of from April to March. So the 2011 awards will be for only nine months of that year from April to December. The selection committee for 2012 and 2013 are still pending.
