RAIN BUT NO SHINE
Only Two Films Released?

The month of October is memorable for many things. The record-breaking rain that lashed in Karnataka spoiled not only the crop of farmers but also the collection of films for more than one week. Added to it the films in queue could not get the theatres. The blockbuster 'Jogi' continued to rule the box office. 'Amrutha Dhaare' stood next in the collection and popularity wise. While the films like Namma Basava, Auto Shanker, Deadly Soma managed to sail.

Nayi Neralu of director Girish Kasaravalli, Mohini 94488 58888 of director S.V.Rajendra Singh babu, Thimma of director Sai Sagar, Ambi of Nagendra Prasad, Datta of Gurudutt, Chanaksha of Ha Su Rajasekhar mounted the sets.

The national film awards were distributed at New Delhi. Actress Thara received the best actress award for Haseena from President of India Abdul Kalam.

Namma Basava, Auto Shanker, Deadly Soma completed 50 days.

Rain affected the collections in Bangalore.

For Deepavali there were no releases this time.

7 O'clock and Shubam Audio released at The Club in Bangalore. At the audio launch of Shubam Gurukiran birthday was also celebrated. Anil Kumble the ace leg spinner graced the audio release function of 7 O'clock.

Gulbarga Film club was inaugurated.

2 days seminar and 70th birthday of top lyricist R.N.Jayagopal was celebrated in Bangalore.

S.A.Chinne Gowda celebrated the completion of Sri of his elder brother and state award for his younger son Murali at Green House restaurant.

His son Srujan Lokesh held late actor Lokesh theatre festival for a week. Veteran actors Simha and Srinivasamurthy participated in this festival.

CONTROVERSIES

'Nissima' was restarted as 'Chanaksha'. Producer CVR lashed at director of Nissima for wasting his Rs.22 lakhs of rupees.

Director, producer Indrajith Lankesh lashed at Girish Kasaravalli for making a comment that all films made in Kannada are 'gory'.
Producer of Belli Betta Huttesh condemned the attitude of actor Sunil Raoh for bringing in middlemen and charging extra fee.

T.S.Nagabharana the ace director was served the non-bailable warrant to arrest by Keerthiraj in connection with the Gopalakrishna Adiga novel.
