The release of Kannada film Attahasa directed by A.M.R Ramesh, the Kannada director and producer of controversial films like Silence will be releasing on September 28 as has been announced in advertisements of a few dailies. The film which is a bilingual, shot in Kannada as Attahasa and Vana Yuddham in Tamil.will have a simultaneous release. The film is based on the notorious forest brigand Veerappan.
Kannada actor Kishore who has become popular in Tamil and Telugu films plays the role of Veerappan in the film, which also features action king Arjun Sarja  in the role of the chief Special Task Force officer Vijayakumar. Multilingual actress  Vijayalakshmi as Veerappan's wife, Muthulakshmi.
Though Attahasa is likely to be released on september 28, the Tamil film Vanayudhdham's release may face road blocks. That is because Muththulakshmi, wife of forest brigand Veerappan has failed to see the film in a recent screening arranged by the producer-director Ramesh.
The film has been mired in controversies as the real life Muthulakshmi got a stay order against release of the film, as she says there are objectionable scenes in the film that tarnish her and her daughter
