The heinous and diabolic plan of some local terrorist modules to eliminate Veteran and Popular Journalists like Vishweshwara Bhat, Chief Editor of Suvarna News and Kannada Prabha Daily,  Prathap Simha, popular Columnist who has steadfastly remained committed to his pro Nationalist views and Vijaya Sankeshwar, Owner and Chief C.E.O of Vijayavani News paper once again reiterates the dangers the Journalists are facing in these times of growing intolerance against freedom of opinion.
It also underlines the fact that Journalists living in free and democratic India have also become vulnerable to threats and evil designs planned outside the boundaries of this country.
"Journalists are more than ever in the cross-hairs of the enemies of freedom," says  International News Safety Institute  Director Rodney Pinder.  Pinder refers to the recent survey of Cardiff School of Journalism's latest report which provides the data about seventy journalists who were dead in the first six months this year.   In the last year 2011,  56 people were dead in the first seven months in various countries while the total figures of the year were 124.  With the way the incidents of threat is growing,  more number of Journalists  are becoming vulnerable.
The Police forces in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh needs to be thanked for the investigation done with precision in unearthing the diabolic plans of the terror groups which was hatched outside the country, Particularly in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia where persistent attempts are being made to finance, abet and indoctrinate the educated youngsters to execute to the plans designed in these countries.
Rodney Pinder makes another shocking releavation in his statement which is worthy to be assessed in the present context.  He says -
'"Despite some encouraging international political moves to halt the murder, the gun and the bomb remain the favoured method of censorship in far too many countries' which gives the chilling explanation to increased number of attempts to attack on Journalists.
One thing that distinguishes the present diabolic plan is that the people engaged in execution were well educated and did not belong to the category of vicious criminals.
One more shocking truth that comes out of the incidents that harm journalists quest for freedom is that most of the killers of journalists continue to get away with it. In the first half of this year only one person was identified in connection with 47 targeted killings worldwide. This may be one reason why many people including the corrupt and powerful try continue to harass and create a fear psychosis in the Journalists.
Thankfully people like Vishweshwara Bhat,  Vijaya Sankeshwar and Prathap Simha are made of sterner stuff and would not bow down to threats.  They have showcased a higher degree of courage aganist theats even after knowing about the diabolic plans hatched by groups inimical to India's national interests.  They will remain the torch bearers of freedom of expression in future also.
