Chakravarthy is a magical film for the fans of Darshan. In three different getups and a story spanning three decades, the film goes on a world trip starting from the underworld scene of Bengaluru in 1980s. The basic line of the film is that any person can do good things being in the wrong place and any person in a good place can also do bad things. No prizes for guessing what Darshan's role is then. He has to enter the underworld to protect his friends. From there on, he has to suffer so much personal loss but still goes on to fulfil his mission.

The film reminds you of many real underworld elements in the 1980s Bengaluru and 1990s Bombay and south east Asia. The hero's role reminds you of a real personality but nowhere in the film is there any direct reference in terms of names or incidents. Care is taken to avoid any references. If you do not know about the underworld of Bengaluru's 1980s you will not know where the story is inspired from.

Darshan is at his stunning best in the film. It is almost like him playing three different roles. His voice modulation to suit the changing mood of the character is superb. Chakravarthy is set to become a new landmark in underworld genre films of Sandalwood. Darshan comes up with one of his best performances. There is also a huge star cast in the film that includes Aditya, Srujan Lokesh, Dinakar Toogudeepa and Deepa Sannidhi among others.

The film is also rich in visuals. Some portions of the film are shot on a cruise ship in the middle of the sea. New director Chintan has done a commendable job in his very first film. He keeps the narrative focused on the story and keeps it tight and to the point.

On the technical side the cinematography is top class. Music by Arjun Janya is melodious and the background score gives the film an immense feel. This is one of the best films of Darshan's career. A very good film to get entertained. If you haven't booked your tickets yet, do it immediately.
