With three top film personalities contesting for the top chair, the election fever in the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is hotting up. Now, that M.N. Kumar, Umesh Banakar have already won their contests for the Vice Preisdents post (distribution sector and producer's sector) what remains the most interesting contents is for the post of the President and the Secretary from the producer's sector.
The outcome for the election for the post of the President looks extremely difficult to predict now, what with top and heavy weights of the film industry backing the contestants represented Vijayakumar (Chairman of the Karnataka Silk Board and producer of films like "Simhadhriya Simha', "Lion Jagapathy Rao' and others), film chamber's veteran B.K. Gangadhar and well known producer-director S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu. Already some top producers like Rockline Venkatesh, Munirathna, K.Manju, Ramesh Yadav, Umesh Banakar and Soorappa Babu have put their weight of support behind Vijayakumar. Among the distributors Vijaya Kumar is getting support from K.V.Nagesh Kumar and Navashakthi Nagaraj and their big group which may give a big boost of strength. Top exhibitor Anand of Prasanna and Pramod theatre is also helping Vijayakumar by declaring his open support. But the biggest support he is getting is from the top line producer's lobby. Being a loyal fan of Dr. Vishunvardhan he can also accumulate some votes for him.
B.N.Gangadhar is called as Ajatha Shatru in the film chamber. It is very difficult to pick a hole in the way he conducts himself in the film industry. He is a friend and well wisher to many in the industry and being a financier he is also known to be accommodative. He has won most of his election contents in KFCC with big margins.
Well known film director and producer B.N.Gangadhar is getting major support from many top producers and from the distributors lobby. He is also in the big league as a film producer and sources say even a big chunk of small theatre owners releasing Kannada films are backing him. Sa Ra Govindu, S A Govindraj, KV Chandrashekar, KCN family, Jaggesh, KV Vijayakumar, Thomas Dsouza are backing BN Gangadhar.
Another interesting contest is for the Secretary's post where old veteran A.Ganesh and Joe Simon have thrown their hats. But it looks like Ganesh is having a slight edge over his rival.
For the treasurer's post, the contest centers around S.A. Chinnegowda and old horse Madhusudhana Reddy.
