Peeved with the way the management of  INOX multiplexes is giving preference to non Kannada films  and neglecting the interests of medium budgeted Kannada films, the entire unit of  Sreenagara Kitty-Hari Priya starrer Kilaadi Kitty produced by Shivakumar is sitting in a Dharna in front of  Mantri Mall INOX on Thursday afternoon.   This follows the decision of INOX multiplex to allot only two screenings to this film which is already making waves  and attracting fans through its innovative publicity methods and song promos.

Talking to Chitraloka Mega Portal, Shivakumar said that the INOX management is showing step motherly attitude towards Kannada films is clearly proved in the way they have discriminated against Kilaadi Kitty.  “Though we had requested more  number of screens, we have been allotted with just two screens in multiplexes which is near localities with intensive Kannada speaking population. This has enraged us’ says Shiva Kumar.
Shivakumar said that the entire unit of Kilaadi Kitty is being joined by various pro Kannada groups and Kitty abhimaanigala balaga in this protest demonstration.

Upendra starrer Kataari Veera Sura Sundaraangi directed by Suress Krishna and produced by Munirathna has completed a week of its run on Wednesday night and will have its eighth day of running on Thursday. The film’s collections so far point out a big success for the film as the collections in 3 D screens have been fantastic in comparison to the collections in the 2 D screens.

With one week of its run in all the 170 odd screens in Karnataka that the performance is excellent in 3 D screens and the collections in 2 D screens though falls in comparison with the superior technology  of 3 D screens.  While the collections in 2 D screens in a few multiplexes and a few other theatres like Siddalingehwara in Bengaluru, Lido in Mysore, Srinivasa in Dharwad ,and  Nagalakshmi in  Chickkamagaluru are very good, the revenue from some other screens screening the film in 2 D are not standing up to  the waves the film has created in 3 D screens.

Already producer Munirathna and distributor Rockline Venakatesh have decided to upgrade some 2 D screens to 3 D  in some  screens in Northern Karnataka screens. which include Srinivasa (Dharwad), Ksishna in Gagad and Vaibhav in Banavatti.  The theatres in Northern Karnataka offers the best example as to how the collections have been on the upswing in 3 D screens like Apsara in Hubli, Prakash in Belgaum, Vasavi in Bagalkot , and the not so well maintained Dreamland in Bijapur, while the usually stronger centres like Ranebennur, Jamkhandi and Ramdurg have reported not so encouraging collections screening the 2 D versions.  That is precisely the reason as to why many number of screens is being upgraded to 3 D screens in Northern Karnataka.

But such efforts cannot be experimented  in Bengaluru and Mysore distribution areas where the distance between centres screening the film are smaller. The 3 D print in Mandya’s Gurushri is attracting good crowds mainly because fans from neighbouring centres like Maddur, Malavalli, K.R.Pet,  Channapattana are flocking to the Mandya theatre to have a 3 D viewing experience. Similar example can be adduced to Hassan’s SBG  theatre where people from neighbouring districts are showing excessive interest in viewing the 3 D prints.  Shashikanth from Gurushri and SBG theatres says that the first eight days net collections in Gurushri will exceed Rs Ten lacs and he expects the same level of collections even in the second week as lot of family audiences are flocking to teh tehatre.
The collections in Narthaki, Prasanna and even the morning and night show in Navrang is excellent.  The 2 D screening in Siddalingeshwara theatre is getting good collections, but the same can not be attributed to other centres.  But still the collections in Bengaluru, Mysore, Shimoga, Davanagere, Bhadravathi, Chitradurga, Bellary where the 3 D version is being shown are excellent and are continuing to hold very well.

The trade sources put the figure of the first seven days share to producer to around Rs. 4.50 to Rs. 4.70 crores which will be more than Rs. 5 crores share on completion of the eighth day.  collections to around. With the way positive reports from the 3 D screens are emerging and the increase in number of 3 D screens, even the second week collections will only drop in small percentage, feel the analysts.

‘There will not be a big drop in collections in KVSS as seen in the recently released Kannada films which obtained huge openings.  That is because of the entertaining factor’  says a theatre owner screening the 3 D version of the film.

In a chat with Chitraloka Mega Portal, Munirathna confirmed that many theatres in Northern Karnataka have been upgraded to 3 D screens for getting the maximum benefit in the ticket window. “I have given a go ahead to Rockline distributors who have been doing a fine job in exploiting the film and getting maximum benefit for me by upgrading the existing  2 D to  3 D screens.  With this effort from the Kataari Veera Sura Sundaraangi unit, we have now more number of  3 D screens in the state of Karnataka.  I am proud to say all this because of efforts taken by me and Rockline distribution company’ says Munirathna.

e students from abroad who are studying in Swami Vivekananda Institute of Indian students have become great fans of Power Star Puneet.  They are in complete awe of the power star for his six pack body and the way he fights on screens.

Many foreign students who watched  Power Star Puneet Raj Kumar’s Anna Bond in the Sangam theatre in Mysore have been mesmerised by the performance of the Kannada Super Star who is  taking the Kannada film industry to newer heights.  The report published in Mysore’s premier daily says that the foreign students who watched the film with their Indian friends say that they have liked the entertainment quotient in the film.

The foreign students were in Mysore to study Indian art, music, industrial production and development, economy among many other things.  The special show of the film was organised by Dr. Sindhu Suresh, director of the Institute. The delegation of foreign students will also be visiting Bengaluru and H.D. Kote in connection with their study and training.  Many of the foreign students said that they have become Puneet’s fans after watching Anna Bond.

The film’s two trailers which has been uploaded on the net created a flutter, as it is about the revenge of a common house fly.  Many top Bollywood directors including Ram Gopal Varma Anurag Kashyap have tweeted in appreciation of the trailer.
The trailer simply rocked and the contents of the trailer clearly showcased the extra ordinary talent of  Kannada star Sudeep who is known for his powerful performances.

And now,  the bilingual film is making another big news.  ! For the first time a Telugu dubbing into Tamil theatrical rights has been sold for a record Rs 5 Crore, unheard in dubbing history. The voice of the artists in the film have been dubbed by them in both the languages. Naan EE Tamil satellite rights have been grabbed by the market leader Sun TV for a whopping Rs 3.35 Crore!

PVR Cinemas, the producers of Naan Ee has struck gold, as overnight the film has become red hot in the trade. It has Sudeep,  glamorous Samantha and   young actor Nani who are not well known in Tamil in the lead and a director who is box-office king in Telugu, but yet to do a Tamil film!

SS Rajamouli has tweeted- “Eega (Naan Ee) Tamil rights were sold for Rs 5 crores, I was a bit worried that we are overselling and satellite rights were sold for a whopping Rs 3.35 Crores!! We are left wondering whether we under sold the rights!”
Naan Ee has overnight become one of the most wanted films by theatre owners  in Tamil Nadu. It is releasing on May 30 in a record 300 screens in Tamil Nadu and other places.

Kannada film actress Hari Priya whose  forthcoming film ‘Kilaadi Kitty’s is getting released on May 18 was surprised when her name had featured in some scrolls of some Kannada news channels that her rented house in Sadashivanagar was raided by the C.B.I authorities.  In the wee hours of Wednesday morning,, the C.B.I. and Income Tax sleuths had raided the house of  Karnataka’s former Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa and his kin and along with  many associates connected to him and his family members. Raghavendra, Member of Parliament and first son of Yediyurappa along with his elder sister Umadevi and his brother Vijayendra were also raided along with his son-in-law Sohan Kumar and Udaya Kumar who are staying in Shimoga.

A Television channel beamed the news of CBI raiding actress Hari Priya’s house and had even hinted that she was questioned by sleuths which was immediately refuted by the actress.  They attributed the CBI raids to the fact that the actress was closer to Vijayendra, second son of  B.S.Yediyurappa.

“I am surprised as to how this baseless news was scrolled in some television news channels. There was no CBI raid on my house. I am just surprised about the pattern of false news being telecasted in many platforms just at the time when release of my films are around the corner. This had happened before also when my previous films “Manasugala Maathu Madhura’ and  “Kallara Santhe’ were released. Now, when my next film “Kilaadi Kitty’ is hitting the screens this wrong news has been spread about me’ said Hari Priya.

Hari Priya also clarified that she had already denied any connection with Vijayendra, second son of B.S. Yediyurappa. “I did not know Yediyurappa had two sons till some years ago some baseless news items appeared in tabloids alleging a romantic link between me and Vijayendra.  I have never met him so far and I am surprised as to how the imagination of some media persons go wild in such matters. I have denied it in earlier occasions also and I am sorry to say that I have to again repeat what I have said.

This motivated publication of unsubstantiated allegation  is intended to spoil my reputation, but I am not scared.as  I know very well that some people are really threatened because I am doing very well acting in all the four Southern language films and my career is shaping up very well in the Kannada film industry.  I will reveal the names of  some film industry people who are hell bent on spoiling my reputation and standing in the industry’ says Hari Priya.

West Indian player Chris Gayle who has become a crown in the Royal Challengers of Bengaluru team now playing in the IPL 5 has been quite attached to the city and also people of Karnataka.   He is one player who has become quite popular among the fans of RCB who are quite thrilled with the way he plans his attacking game from the word Go.

Chirl Gayle was the chief guest at the audio release function of Sreenagara Kitty and Hari Priya starrer Kilaadi Kitty.  He had even released the audio album of the film in a function which was attended by many cricket and film fans.   Kitty, Hari Priya and the film’s another heroine Nivedhitha even danced with Chris Gayle during the happy occasion.

Recently the unit of Kilaadi Kitty had a dinner meet with the famous cricketer who has become closer to some of the artists and technicians associated with the film.    The film’s hero Kitty,  heroine Hari Priya who had just returned after finishing her shooting commitment for a Malayalam film in Kerala,  film’s director Anantha Raju and the film’s producer Shiva Kumar had made the presence in the dinner meet.
RCB player and captain Anil Kumble was also present during this dinner meet which went off very smoothly, according to the film’s producer S.V.Shivakumar.

Some of the songs and sequences of the film which were all uploaded in the lap top computer were shown to  Chris Gayle who had really enjoyed and was seen bursting with laughter.

The fully completed Dr. Raj Memorial will be handed over by the state government in a short period of time, saya Chief Minister D.V.Sadananda Gowda.  He was speaking at the  state awards function held on 15th May at Jnana Jyothi Auditorium in Central College  after presenting awards to the winners.  Late  Dr. Vishnuvardhan was selected for the Best actor award for his performance in his 200^th film “Aaptha Rakshaka’ by the Jury committee headed by Dwarakish.  His award was taken by his actress wife Ms. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan. Despite his political pressures, the Karnataka Chief Minister DVS chose to attend the function brimming with his usual smile.  He also said that state government is also contemplating to increase the number of  eligible films for subsity to 100 from the present number of  75.  Just a few months ago, the State Government had announced that the number of elibile films for subsidy has been increased to seventy five.

DVS also said that shortly the work related to Dr. Vishnuvardhan memorial will be starting and his government has earmarked Rs. Five crores for the project in this regard.  His cabinet colleague Home Minister R.Ashok and Roshan Baig, the Member of Karnataka Legislature were also present.

The award function was also attended by  Actress Ms. Tara, Chiarman of Film Academy, K.V.Chandrashekhar, President of the KFCC Actor and singer R.N.Sudharshan,  director-lyricist C.V.Shivashankar and producer S.D.Ankalagi were presented with the prestigious  Dr. Raj Kumar, Puttanna Kanagal and Dr. Vishnuvardhana awards.   Anu Prabhakar won the best actress award.

Century Star Shivaraj Kumar and director Soori combination is all set to join for the first time in the film Kaddipudi to be produced by Swayamvara Chandru.  Radhika Pandit has been chosen as the heroine. It is for the first time that this young and talented actress is being paired with Century Star.

The film is all set to be launched on the last week of  June or later after the completion of Ashada festival.  Swayamvara Chandru wants to have a pooja of the film before the start of Ashada month.

Incidentally Soori is now writing the script of the film and he may take another two months to complete the full version of the script. He is sure to take lot of interest in writing the script as he is directing an experienced  Shivaraj Kumar for the first time. Hari Krishna is the music director of this film and S.Krishna is the cinematographer.

Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar directed Breaking News featuring Ajay Rao and Radhika Pandit in main roles is hitting the screens on May 18 along with Sreenagara Kitty and Hari Priya starrer Kilaadi Kitty directed by Anantha Raju.

Century Star Shivaraj Kumar’s most awaited film Shiva directed by Om Prakash Rao is hitting the screens on June 15, while the release of another big budget film “Romeo’ starring Ganesh and Bhavana in main roles and directed by P.C.Sekhar may be released on June 1 or 8.  The release of Real star   Upendra’s God Father directed by Sriram and produced by K.Manju  may be postponed by two weeks and it may well release on June 22 or 29, since Kataari Veera has taken a huge opening.

The most awaited historical film Darshan starrer Kranti Veera Sangolli Raayanna is hitting the screens on August 15.

These are all unofficial dates of release as per the talks held with respective producers are concerned.  It is not a fool proof list as the dates can be announced only after certification of the films.

Kataari Veera Sura Sundaraangi was released on May 10 after facing lot of controversies before the film’s release.  Even after its release the socio fantasy film faced the wrath of pro Hindu activities who were raged against the film for wrongly portraying Hindu gods.

But the film’s collections have been extra ordinarily good from the date it was released.  The film’s success in ticket counter has been uniform in the sense that collections are good in multiplexes and single screens.

Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh has also taken a huge opening in many places in Karnataka where the film was received.  Though Pawan Kalyan’s films were not getting huge openings  like other famous stars like Mahesh Babu, NTR and Ram Charan, the reactions so far for Gabbar Singh has been really fantastic.  The first three days collections are easily  ahead of the recent films like   Dammu and Rachcha throughout the state.
But there is a steep fall in the collections of  Anna Bond which was doing very well in the first nine days.

The collections of Ishaaqzaade is much better than Dangerous Ishq which was touted as a come back film for glamorous Kareena Kapoor.
