    Sa Ra Govindu and his friends including producers Praveen Kumar MG Ramamurthy, NM Suresh, KM Veeresh, Ramesh Yadav, Bhojaraj and others met the family members of soldier Sandeep Kumar Shetti at his native village Devihalli in Hassan.

    sa_ra_govindu_soilder_1sand.jpgSandeep is one of the soldiers who died in Jammu and Kashmir last week after an avalanche struck the Indian Army camp at Gurez Valley. Sandeep was only 28 years old and was in the Indian army for 8 years.

They have promised to build a memorial including a statue for Sandeep in the village. Govindu and the producers met the parents and made the promise in their personal capacities and not as representatives of the KFCC.

    Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has granted a five lakh financial aid for well known director turned actor A T Raghu who is suffering from Kidney failure.

    KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu himself confirmed that the Chief Minister has granted a five lakh financial aid for the director during the thanks giving press meet held at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening.

    'The Chief Minister has granted a five lakh aid for the ailing Raghu and even the cheque is ready. We will be collecting it shortly and will be handling it over to the director's family soon' said Sa Ra Govindu.

  • Aditya - Ragini Starrer New Film Launched

    Aditya and Ragini were last seen in a film called 'Villain' directed by M S Ramesh. Now the duo is back with a new film being directed by Mussanje Mahesh.

    The untitled film which stars Aditya and Ragini was launched at the Kanteerava Studio in Bangalore recently.  KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu sounded the clap for the first shot of the film.

    The film is being produced by Dattatreya Bachchegowda who had earlier produced 'Jinda', 'Porki' and other films. This is the sixth film from the production house. Mahesh himself has written the story and screenplay of the film. The film stars Padmavasanthi, Srinivasamurthy, Vijayakashi and others. Sridhar Sambhram is the music director.

    Veteran Pro Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has announced that the pro Kannada activists have decided to allow the screening of Telugu film 'Bahubali - The Conclusion'. The film is all set to release on the 28th of April.

    Earlier,  Vatal Nagaraj and others had warned to stop the screening of the film until actor Satyaraj who have played a major role in the film apologises for his anti Kannada remarks in the Cauvery issue. But on Friday, Satyaraj has apologised to Kannadigas for his remarks about Kannada.

    In this view, the pro Kannada activists met once again today morning and has decided to allow the release of the film, as Satyaraj himself has apologised for his remarks. 'Our fight is not against the film,  but with the actor who has made nasty remarks about Kannada and Kannadigas. As Satyaraj himself has apologised for his remarks, we have decided to let go off this issue and allow the film to release across Karnataka' said Satyaraj.

    Kfcc president Sa Ra Govindu's effort has fulfilled. In the 2014-2015 state award function held at GKVK auditorium chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has announced major facilities to Kannada film industry.

    On the stage, Sa Ra Govindu convinced CM to announce subsidy for 125 movies instead of 100 movies which is given at present. And also announced 5 lacs each to recently expired Anil and Uday during Mastigudi shooting tragedy.

    In the speech, CM told Anil and Uday were the upcoming artists. Because of the negligence of the Director and stunt director we have lost two artists. Siddaramaiah told this year we have given two years award together. From next year we will ensure award function will be held on Dr Rajkumar Birthday which is on April 24th.

    Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the government will celebrate the birthday of Dr Rajakumar not only in Bangalore, but also in district centres from next year onwards. 

    Earlier,  KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu who was present during the birthday celebrations of Dr Rajakumar in Ravindra Kalkshetra in the morning had requested the Government to celebrate the birthday of Dr Rajakumar in district centres apart from Bangalore. The Chief Minister in the evening officially announced that Dr Rajakumar birthday celebrations will be held in district centers from next year onward. 

    As per the request of Sa Ra Govindu Dr Rajkumar statue will be inaugurated at New Delhi Kannada Sanga soon said chief minister and told it was Dr Rajkumar who inaugurated that sangha at Delhi.

    The Chief Minister also announced that the 200 Rs ticket price as announced will be implemented soon and the Government order in this regard will be issued soon.

    As a mark of respect to Parvathamma Rajkumar the Kannada film industry will be shut today. There will be no shooting of films scheduled for today.

    There will be no screening of films also today. KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu said that he has spoken to industry people and everyone wanted to show respect to Parvathamma. Parvathamma has produced nearly 80 Kannada films and is one of the most prolific and successful producers in the film industry.

  • General Body Gives One More Year To Sa Ra Govindu And Team

    The general body of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has extended its support to Sa Ra Govindu and the existing office bearers and executive committee to continue in their term for one more year. The general body meeting was held today and everyone present supported Govindu and wanted his team to continue in office.

    This is a big boost to Govindu who was elected as president in 2015. All the members present at the meeting unanimously opined that since there are many important works pending and underway it was better for the existing elected body to continue and finish the work instead of going in for another election at this point of time.

    Kfcc President Sa Ra Govindu has requested the media to cross check the movie collection reports from the chamber before publishing it. Recently few movie teams are giving false collection reports and are misleading the public. This is not the right way and they are spoiling the industry.

    If anybody gives the collection report let them ask the DCR from the concerned and publish it or let them ask the chamber for the clarification regarding the collection report of the movie, says Sa Ra Govindu.

  • GST Reduced For Entertainment Tax - Dayal Writes

    Few states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra are favoring the respective Cinema industries and the audience by providing tax exemption (Entertainment Tax) for Cinemas.

    After the announcement of GST which will be implemented from July 1st 2017 many regional Cinema Industry gave a representation to the Central Government to exempt tax for Cinema Industry. After repeated representation the Central Government has revised the Entertainment Tax.

    Under the GST, there will now be two categories for movie tickets. For tickets that cost less than Rs 100, a tax of 18% will be levied. For the tickets costing more than Rs 100, a GST of 28% will be levied.

    Presently, entertainment tax is levied by individual states. The states levy a different rate, ranging from 28-110%, and the weighted average for the entire country is about 30%.

    However, several state governments give an exemption to cinema of the particular language of that state. Under GST, there will now be no centralised exemption.

    Jailtley said:" If states want, through the DBT (Direct Benifit Transfer), the state can refund the GST of regional cinema."

    KFCC, President SA Ra Govindu along with Office bearers spoke up the concerns regarding the status of Kannada film producers.

    In the press meet, speaking on behalf of the producers, Sa Ra Govindu showed his concerns regarding the diminishing numbers of theatres across the state.

    He also highlighted the points pertaining the reality shows damaging the Kannada film viewership, which is causing a major damage to the producers, distributors and Kannada films. Sa Ra Govindu, requested each and every entertainment channel to purchase the rights of atleast 25 movies per year.

    The major concern of this press meet was reality shows like big boss, weekend with Ramesh, kick and other shows which are hosted by Kannada film superstars like Sudeep, Ramesh and shiva Rajkumar respectively. he requested the stars to support the Kannada film industry and to stop hosting these shows. He openly requested Sudeep to listen to the problems of the producers and come out of the Bigg Boss.

    Sa Ra told, this is now a request and if not accepted we will take a future course of action after few days.

    In the press meet, Producer A Ganesh told let's all go the BIGG Boss house and protest there. For this everyone accepted.

  • KFCC Requests Tax Dept To Cap Ticket Prices Immediately

    The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has requested the Commercial Tax Department to stop high pricing of tickets immediately. Chief Minister Suddaramaiah has announced on Monday that the government notification on Rs 200 cap on Film tickets will be announced within two days.

    KFCC in a request to the concerned tax officer in Bengaluru has said that since the notification is being issued the authorities should stop exorbitant prices from this week itself. 

    KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu, secretaries MG Ramamurthy, Narasimhalu and treasurer Rajendra met commissioner of commercial tax Rithvik Ranjanam Pandey and gave the request letter to inform all theatres not to increase ticket rates above 200.

  • KFCC Support Karnataka Bundh on 18th

    The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has given the support for Karnataka bundh scheduled on April 18th. Call for the bundh has been given by Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha and Sa Ra Govindu.

    More than 530 Pro Kannada organisations are supporting Karnataka Bundh against the stand of Tamil Nadu oppising the Karnataka states Mekedatu project.

    In the emergency meeting held at KFCC it was decided to support the bundh and the film activities will be stand still on that day.

    Earlier, the Kannada film industry had supported bundh regarding the Cauvery issue also.

    The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has said that it will take action on director Srinivasa Raju for his objectionable scene in the movie 2. The scene was deleted by the Censor Board but has been leaked in the last few days leading to a major controversy. The scene is about a police officer torturing a woman suspect. Ravishankar and Sanjjanaa are the main actors in the scene.

    KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu is very upset with the controversy surrounding the scene. The alleged nude vide of Sanjjana that was leaked has been in the centre of controversy. While Sanjjanaa today said that she was wearing a dress that was masked and it was not really a nude video the film industry is upset with the bad potrayal of the police and the disgrace the video is brining. 

    Speaking to Chitraloka Sa Ra Govindu said that KFCC is calling a meeting with the Directors Association and will take action against Srinivasa Raju for making this type of scene and insulting the police department. "We are going to call actor Ravishankar and Sanjjana to hear what exactly happened and how they accepted to do this scene and what happened there," Govindu said. Will Srinivasa Raju be banned in the Kannada film industry is to be seen.

    The 'Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole' team on Saturday met Information Minister Roshan Baig and gave a memorandum about Kannada problems facing problems in multiplexes in Karnataka. Recently the screening of 'Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole' in PVR Multiplex in the Orion Mall was cancelled due to various reasons.

    The team of 'MMK' including Dinakar Thoogudeepa and director Kaviraj had filed a complaint against the multiplex.

    On Saturday KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu, Kaviraj, Dinakar and others met Information Minister Roshan Baig and gave a memorandum about the plight of Kannada films in multiplexes and the team urged the minister to frame rules like what Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra Governments have done to protect the regional cinema. Baig has said that he will look into the matter and would try to resolve it soon.

  • Multiplex Ticket Price Capped At Rs 200

    Responding to a major demand by film audience the Karnataka Government has capped the prices of tickets at multiplexes at Rs 200. Ticket prices in Karnataka multiplexes are among the highest in India.

    Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have fixed maximum ticket prices earlier. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the price cap in his budget speech today in the Assembly. The official request to cap ticket prices was made by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman Rajendra Singh Babu to the government during the pre budget meeting recently. The request was made earlier also but the government has conceded it now. 

    Multiplexes will now have to compulsorily screen at least two shows of Kannada films during prime time. Kannada film makers have long complained how Kannada films were regulated to odd timings even when they had more audience than non Kannada films. Chitranagari at Mysore has also been announced.

    The State Government has also announced other sops for the film industry. The amount for the film workers welfare fund has been raised to Rs 10 crore from Rs 1 crore. The tax on non Kannada films which was Rs 1 per ticket has been increased to Rs 5 per ticket. This amount will be used for the promotion of Kannada films.
